Anup Patel, the director of Tyre Channel Ltd was given an 8 month prison sentence, suspended for 2 years after pleading guilty to breaches of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. His company was also fined £60,000.
Fire officers visited the Company’s scrap tyre yard in Croydon after police raised concerns over poor safety conditions. The Judge when sentencing described the premises as “a tinder box in the making”.
