A 45-year-old Indian man who fell into a hole in the road after being out drinking died after careless workman covered him in molten tar during the building of a road in Katni.
The man had been drinking at a local fair and failed to return home. His worried wife rallied neighbours to help search for him.
He was discovered the following day when a resident spotted an arm poking out of the road.
The driver of the dumper truck and the worker who filled the pothole that the man died in have both been arrested, and charged with negligence leading to death.
